TRANSGRESSIONS
Embossed soft-cover book with 72 pages and a USB data stick, released in 2019 This release presents four performance-based audiovisual works by Marko Ciciliani, performed by Barbara Lüneburg (violins), Szilard Benes (bass-clarinet) and himself (live-electronics): Formula minus One for electric violin, live-electronics and live-video (2014) Time Machine for sensor-equipped bass-clarinet, live-electronics and live-video (2013-14) STEINA for violin and live generated electronics, laser-graphics and video (2015) Via for live-electronics, live-video and lighting (2015) The works have resulted from Ciciliani’s long-standing preoccupation with musical composition that extends to visual media. Those works show diverse approaches in the articulation of the relationships between performance, sound and visuals. They range from tight ‘mickey mousy’-synchronizations - most prominently to be found in Via and Formula minus One, via counterpuntal settings – as in Time Machine, to very loose layerings, which characterize certain sections of STEINA This release consists of a book with 72 pages and a USB data stick, beautifully designed by Isabelle Vigier. The USB stick contains HD video recordings of the four audiovisual compositions. Apart from short introductions into the individual pieces, the book contains a reprint of Marko Ciciliani’s text Music in the Expanded Field which is based on a lecture he gave on August 10, 2016 at the International Summer Courses in Darmstadt.
